When I read the articles about the conferences and festivals that have taken place here, I’m happy we can put that characteristic aside a bit and talk proudly about what we’re good at. Because where is it possible for a network of people to organise a major event in just a few days? I'm of course talking about the world-famous Eleven Cities Tour. We’re happy to use our passion for organising something amazing together for conferences that make a difference.

Here you have the magazine about conferences in Friesland, or rather Fryslân. Because that is the name of the province where I am proud to be a Member of the Provincial Executive. We do things a little differently here than in the rest of the Netherlands. We don't like conferences with impersonal grey halls with uncomfortable chairs. We do things in a more authentic and greener way.

How the Frisian mentality fits in with world-class top level sports, read the interview with Foppe de Haan and Rixt van der Horst. Behind the down-to-earth Frisian façade lies a world of knowledge and innovation. And you don't just see that in sports; from water technology to sustainable agriculture and circularity, we’re leading the way. We just don’t brag about it. That’s not in our nature.
